Founded in 2000 by Guillaume Aubin and Charles Letourneur, Alven Capital Partners is an independent early-stage venture capital firm with a long-term commitment to entrepreneurs. Over the past 25 years, we have raised seven funds and backed more than 250 startups, growing from an initial €8m fund to a €350m fund in 2022. We are a trusted partner for early-stage founders across Europe.

Our ESG Philosophy
Alven is pledging to continue improving its ESG policies and further enhance its initiatives, with a particular focus on two of the 17 UN-PRI sustainable development goals: Gender Equality and Climate Action. Alven is now further engaging to address climate change through improved selection processes and more proactive monitoring of key initiatives.

ESG considerations are integrated throughout Alven Capital Partners’ investment lifecycle, from due diligence to portfolio monitoring. The firm ensures that its investments comply with applicable standards and avoids sectors considered inconsistent with its ESG policy, including weapons, pornography, tobacco or activities associated with human rights violations or child labour. As a long-term investor, typically supporting companies for five years or more, Alven works closely with portfolio company management teams to promote responsible growth. The firm encourages improvements in social practices, employee incentive schemes and progress on key ESG topics such as diversity and decarbonisation.

Voting policy
Alven Capital Partners exercises shareholder rights in the exclusive interest of the funds it manages and their investors. The firm monitors the strategy, financial and non-financial performance, risks and governance of portfolio companies and maintains a regular dialogue with management teams. Voting rights and other shareholder rights attached to portfolio investments are exercised on a case-by-case basis, taking into account the long-term interests of investors. In exercising these rights, Alven Capital Partners seeks to prevent and manage potential conflicts of interest in accordance with its internal policies. A report for each of the funds reports on the exercise of voting rights during the year. Additional information regarding Alven Capital Partners’ responsible investment approach and internal policies may be made available to investors upon request.
